Inspiration Notebook – Don’t Leave Home Without One
Don’t kid yourself about blog writing. The leading blog writers say writing for others is a discipline. Prompting yourself on topics to write about is as easy as keeping a little notebook that you can crack open and extract “nuts” from when you need them.
This is not to say that intuition has no place in writing. In fact what I’m suggesting quite the opposite. A skilled blog writer is intuitively in touch with readers he or she has never met, readers who require periodic feedings. If you lay out feast one day and starve your guests the next time they come to visit, then don’t be surprised if they move on to find a blog where they can be nourished with regular feedings.
Every blogger should have an inspiration notebook and never be without it. A very small notebook that fits into pocket or purse will do nicely. In it one writes a couple of words defining a subject that will trigger development of a blog post on those days when the blogging ideas menu seems to be blank.
Some strange places one might find themselves scribbling down a couple of words are at concerts, dinners, on buses, on ferries and yes, even in public restrooms – anywhere, in fact. So the next time you’re cruising by the bargain bins in a drugstore keep a sharp eye out for those tiny notebooks and be prepared to head for the checkout with your inspiring purchase in hand.
